LG’s updated Tone Free earbuds keep the self-cleaning tech and add ANC
LG Tone Free FN7 bring the same great sound quality, fit and self-cleaning case as the FN6, but add active noise cancellation and other minor improvements.
LG Tone Free HBS-FN6 debuted earlier this year, seeming like a typical pair of true wireless earbuds with an AirPods-like stem-based design, included a unique feature – self-cleaning tech using UVnano light in the case to remove bacteria from the speaker mesh. LG managed to still nail the basics with great sound quality thanks to Meridian Audio, a compact charging case, wireless charging, strong battery life and IPX4 water resistance.
Yesterday, LG announced an update to their earbud line with the HBS-FN7. LG’s FN7s keep the sound powered by Meridian Sound’s Digital Signal Processing, UV case, in-ear stem design and EQ adjustments in the app. This time bringing active noise cancellation.
While the FN6 provided a strong amount of passive noise isolation with the in-ear tips, FN7 build upon this by pairing it with ANC. Active noise cancellation uses three microphones on each earbud to monitor soundwaves from all directions and neutralizes external sounds. Adjustable ear gels with twist-fit Vortex Ribs provides a tighter in-ear seal. No word on a transparency mode like most other ANC earbuds.
LG have subtly made improvements to other areas of their Tone Free earbuds, with “fuller, richer bass with high quality silicone-infused drivers, dome featuring a stronger metal layer and denser texture dampers for better resolution of mid-high frequencies.”
LG’s FN7 manage 5 hours out of the case with ANC turned on and 7 hours with ANC turned off. Combining this with the case should give you 15 hours of listening with ANC on and 21 with ANC turned off. 5 minutes of charging the case will equate to 1 hour of listening.
The UVnano charging case remains the same as before, this time with an LED light on the exterior of the case to monitor charging level and UVnano status.
LG has always striven to deliver more options to consumers and with our newest TONE Free earbuds we are expanding our lineup to audiophiles who desire the very best that audio technology has to offer.
