Instagram now lets you share your Spotify songs with Notes in real time
Spotify integration joins new Instagram features aimed at making creative sharing feel easier and more personal.
Instagram has just made it easier to share your music taste with friends and followers by updating its Notes feature to integrate directly with Spotify. The new tool lets you automatically display what you’re listening to as your temporary status in Instagram’s direct messages area.
This update is part of Instagram’s ongoing effort to help users express themselves more easily through music and other creative tools. According to a Meta spokesperson, the Spotify integration began rolling out on 12th June 2025, allowing users to show the name of the song and artist they’re currently listening to on Spotify directly in their Notes. This status appears above your profile icon in DMs and will update automatically based on your listening activity.
To view the full song and artist name, others can tap the green Spotify bubble that appears above your profile picture. As The Verge reports, this new feature is part of Instagram’s broader “Anyway” campaign, which aims to “reduce pressure and supercharge creativity” for creators. The campaign encourages users to feel more confident sharing their ideas and musical tastes without fear of judgement.
Instagram has already added features in the past that allow creators to show off their music taste. There’s already a feature that lets users manually attach music clips to Notes. But the Spotify integration is more dynamic, showing a constantly updated status rather than a single track. It also places another “add to Spotify” button within the app, building on Meta’s partnership last year with the streaming platform.
Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, shared more insights on the campaign and product updates in a recent blog post. “We’re working on new features that aim to help users manage the excitement and nervousness that come with putting something out into the world,” he said.
This includes expanding the Reels testing feature, which was previously limited to a small group. It lets users try posting videos to fresh audiences before sharing with their main follower list. Alongside this, Instagram is also introducing the ability to rearrange posts in your grid – a long-requested feature that will be rolling out from next week.
With all these updates, it’s clear that Instagram wants to make its platform more flexible and user-friendly for anyone looking to share music and creativity without overthinking it.
