Multi-tasking short-form videos lovers rejoice! Instagram Reels may be getting support for picture-in-picture soon.

Shared by Radu Oncescu on Threads, some users are seeing a live test for picture-in-picture mode for Reels on Instagram. Picture-in-picture on mobile shows a video in a floating window, allowing you to browse other apps, while keeping the video in screen.

As shown by the iOS screenshots, the “Picture in picture” option can be enabled by tapping the three dots menu in the Reels tab. There is also a “Try picture in picture” pop up that shows when scrolling Reels.

The feature was confirmed by Instagram to TechCrunch this week. This feature has been available in other video apps like TikTok and YouTube for some time. According to TechCrunch, the feature is currently only available to “a small group of users to start.” All being well, hopefully we will see a wider global release soon.
