Keep scrolling for the full top 20 breakdown.
Miley Cyrus saw her first appearance in an IFPI Global Chart Top 10, coming in strong at number one, with her double Grammy Award-winning single – Flowers. Released in January 2023, the song hit number one simultaneously in 29 markets around the world.
Taylor Swift made two appearances in the top 10, with Cruel Summer and Anti-Hero. With both of these singles released pre-2023, these weren’t the only resurgence in sales we saw from older records. Tom Odell’s 2012 single Another Love hit number 18 on this year’s list.
The top 20 features artists from 10 nationalities, including Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, South Korea, UK, and US, up from 6 the year before. 2023 marks the first ever IFPI Global Chart appearance from artists from Nigeria – Rema, and Mexico – Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma.
We are delighted to present the IFPI Global Single Award to Miley Cyrus, who produced the song of 2023 with Flowers. Topping the charts in so many countries simultaneously, the song – along with its message of empowerment -resonated across the world and is the definition of a truly global hit. Congratulations to Miley and her team for this incredible achievement.
It is also fantastic to see so many nationalities and genres represented in the IFPI Global Single Chart. It is a wonderful reflection of the wide range of extraordinary artists that – working in partnership with their record labels – are finding international success.
