AirPods Pro 2 empowers hearing health through the Hearing Test feature, now available to UK users.

Apple has officially expanded its Hearing Test feature to the UK, giving AirPods Pro 2 users access to a convenient and clinically validated hearing assessment from the comfort of their homes.

A global rollout reaches the UK

First launched in select regions such as the United States, Germany, and Japan earlier this year, the feature is now available to AirPods Pro 2 users in the UK following the release of iOS 18.2. Although Apple’s other Hearing Aid and Hearing Protection features remain unavailable in the UK, Apple has confirmed that it is working with local health officials to bring these tools to the UK soon.

What is the Hearing Test feature?

Designed to make hearing assessments more accessible and convenient, the Hearing Test uses a gold-standard clinical approach called pure-tone audiometry. Within five minutes, users can generate easy-to-understand results including a comprehensive audiogram that:

  • Details hearing levels for each ear.
  • Provides classifications of your hearing ability.
  • Delivers tailored and actionable recommendations.

Results are securely and privately stored in the Health app, and can be shared with healthcare providers to enable better-informed discussions.

How UK users can access it

The feature is available with AirPods Pro 2 when paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.2 or later. Intended for users aged 18 years and older, Hearing Test is a regulated health feature that is not currently available in every region.

This feature comes as a free update for UK users of AirPods Pro 2 and joins features such as ANC, Transparency Mode, Adaptive Audio, Personalized Spatial Audio, Siri, USB-C and a wireless charging case. Get the AirPods Pro 2 on Amazon now for £169.99
