Classical music streaming app, Apple Music Classical just launched version 2.0, introducing album booklets and a Recently Added section.

Apple just updated the Apple Music Classical iPhone and iPad app to version 2.0. As the release notes says, “this update adds album booklets for thousands of albums, and a Recently Added section to Library.” The app update is available on the Apple App Store now. No word on when the Android app will be updated.

Apple Music Classical was launched in March last year, with the release of iOS 16.4. The service is based on classical music streaming service Primephonic, which Apple purchased in 2021. There are over 5 million tracks, hundreds of curated playlists and exclusive albums, all available on their own app, separate from the regular non-classical releases on Apple Music. Releases are available in Hi-Res Lossless, up to 192kHz/24-bit, with thousands available in Spatial Audio featuring Dolby Atmos. Users can search by composer, work, conductor, catalog number and more. Initially iOS and iPadOS-only, the app later came to the Google Play Store for Android.

Apple Music Classical is available to all Apple Music subscribers, at no additional cost.

Digital booklets provide users with more information, including in-depth liner notes, translations, composer biographies and more. An open book icon will show in the top-right corner of releases with booklets. Simply tap it to open.

Digital booklet have also long been available for purchased iTunes albums. No word on whether this feature will make its way to Apple Music.

Find out how to attach a booklet to your own iTunes release here. We presume Apple Music Classical are pulling these digital booklets from iTunes, but we have reached out to Apple for confirmation. We will update this article if we hear back.
