You may soon be able to create unique artwork for your Apple Music playlist using Apple Intelligence, Image Playground and generative AI.

In iOS 17.1, Apple launched a library of artwork templates to customize playlists. iOS 18 is looking to take this a whole lot further.

According to code spotted by 9to5Mac in the backend of iOS 18 beta 4, editing a playlist will show a new “Create Image” button, which invokes Image Playground, Apple’s upcoming AI image generator app. Apple Intelligence and Image Playground were demoed with iOS 18 at WWDC 2024 last month. Image Playground allows users to enter a simple text prompt to see their images come to life in one of three different styles – animation, illustration or sketch. This integration suggests artwork creation will be made easier and more fun in iOS 18.

iOS 18 is releasing this September. Developer and public betas are available now. As with all other Apple Intelligence features, Image Playground and its Apple Music integration are still in development and not available to beta users. Most Apple Intelligence features are thought to arrive later in the year or perhaps in 2025.
