Apple’s cutting-edge hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2 are now available in more countries as part of a gradual global rollout.

Expanding access to Hearing Health support

Apple introduced a free software update for AirPods Pro 2 in October 2024, equipping them with clinical-grade Hearing Health features. Initially available in select regions, the rollout has been steady, with the Hearing Aid feature reaching UK users in February 2025. Other countries, including France, Cyprus, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, and Spain have also gained access to these capabilities.

Now, Apple is expanding further, making two features available in Australia, Brazil, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.

What are the new features?

Apple has rolled out two of its hearing health features to these new countries:

Hearing Test

With the Hearing Test feature, users can take a quick five-minute test using their AirPods Pro 2 and an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or iPadOS 18. The test provides an easy-to-understand summary of the results, detailing the level of hearing loss in each ear. Results are securely stored in the Health app and can be shared with healthcare providers for further assistance.

Hearing Aid

Based on the Hearing Test results, AirPods Pro 2 can double-up as a high-quality Hearing Aid for those with moderate hearing loss. This feature dynamically adjusts to both the user’s specific hearing needs and their surrounding environment, helping those with hearing loss to more effectively engage in conversations.

The custom hearing profile seamlessly applies across music, movies, games, and phone calls on all of the user’s Apple device- without requiring users to change settings manually.

A steady rollout

Apple first launched these Hearing Health features in the US in October 2024, and has slowly expanded their availability. One major reason for the gradual rollout is because the Hearing Aid feature requires regulatory approval in each country before it can be offered as a recognized health tool.

With this latest expansion, Apple reinforces its commitment to using technology to enhance accessibility, ensuring more people worldwide can benefit from hearing health support.
