Noise blocking gets a serious upgrade with the Soundcore Sleep A30 buds, but so does the price.

Getting a good night’s sleep is vital, of course for everyone, but definitely for artists and creatives that want to feel energised, productive, and inspired. Anker’s latest release, the Soundcore Sleep A30 earbuds, are built to help you sleep deeper and undisturbed.

These earbuds are the next edition in the Soundcore Sleep range, which started with the A10, and then the A20. The biggest change is that they now feature active noise cancellation (ANC), going beyond the passive sound-blocking found in past versions. Two microphones – one inside and one outside your ear – work together to reduce external noise by up to 30 dB. In short, snoring bedmate or rumbling traffic? Much less likely to bother you.

The A30 buds are also smaller than before, with a new design that’s 7% slimmer than the previous generation. This makes them more comfortable to wear throughout the night, especially if you sleep on your side. Anker includes a range of ear tip sizes in the box, including silicon and memory foam options, and three sizes of ear wings. This means you can tailor the buds to your ears for the ideal fit.

The battery life of the A30 is a drop compared to the A20, but that’s due to the added features (like ANC). The A20 offered up to 14 hours of use on a single charge, but the A30 up to 9 hours if you’re listening to built-in white noise or sleep sounds stored directly on the earbuds. That said, the charging case can extend this to a total of 45 hours. If you’re streaming music or podcasts from your phone instead, the earbuds last up to 6.5 hours on their own, or up to 35 hours with the case.

There’s also a clever new feature built into the charging case called “Adaptive Snore Masking technology.” This listens out for snoring nearby and then plays masking audio directly to your earbuds based on the sound’s frequency and volume, helping to reduce disturbance without waking you up.

Other smart touches include sleep tracking and position monitoring, which let you see how well you slept using the Soundcore app. There’s a private alarm that only plays through the earbuds and even a ‘Find My Earbud’ feature if one falls out during the night and disappears into the bedding.

The Soundcore Sleep A30 is available to preorder now through Kickstarter, with early backers able to get them for $139. The full retail price will be $229.99 when they launch in August 2025 on Amazon and Anker’s official site. That’s a big jump from last year’s A20 model, which started at $149.99. But as The Verge points out, “The new Soundcore Sleep A30 can more effectively block disturbing sounds but are $80 more expensive.”

If better sleep and less noise are what you’re after, and you don’t mind a bit of a price increase for new features, the A30 could be a decent upgrade.
