TikTok Music expands to Australia, Mexico and Singapore
After launching in Brazil and Indonesia, ByteDance are now expanding their music streaming service to Australia, Mexico and Singapore.
Around two weeks ago, ByteDance launched TikTok Music in two of the three countries their existing service Resso is available in. It seems ByteDance are looking to expand TikTok Music quickly, as they enter Australia, Mexico and Singapore. TikTok Music has launched in these additional territories as a closed beta.
The features are unchanged from launch a couple of weeks ago, with tight integration between TikTok and TikTok Music, as well as comments on tracks. Your favorite viral TikTok tunes are synchronized from the short-form video platform, allowing you to access the full version in the music streaming service.
TikTok Music is a premium-only music streaming service, with no free tier. During the beta, TikTok are offering a free 3-month trial. All of the usual premium music streaming service features are present here, including ad-free listening, unlimited song skips and downloads for listening offline. There are three pricing tiers, including Individual, Student and Family. The Family Plan gives subscribers access to up to six account, with the option to block explicit content on accounts. The Individual pricing is currently on offer. This pricing is competitive and undercuts Spotify. An individual Spotify monthly subscription is priced at $11.99 in Australia, S$9.90 in Singapore and MXN$115.00 in Mexico. Without the discount, TikTok Music matches Spotify Premium’s pricing in these markets.
