Calvin Harris has announced he will play a virtual set and appear as a virtual avatar.
Calvin Harris’ first-ever virtual concert will take place on TikTok live next week. Fans can tune into the virtual show on Friday 13th of January at 8 pm GMT on Harris’ official TikTok account. And fans in Europe and Asia can tune in via PICO virtual reality.
According to a press release, the virtual experience is designed to “take fans on a musical journey through Calvin’s virtual universe”. Furthermore, the press release states that audio-reactive visuals will be constructed in a “nature-inspired luminous world”.
The virtual avatar for the Scottish DJ & producer was recently revealed in an update posted on YouTube. Find the video below.
In the same press release, Harris states, “I’m so excited to kick off such an innovative music series with Wave, PICO, and TikTok and can’t wait for fans to experience my first ever virtual concert,”
Paul Hourican, the Global Head of Music Operations at TikTok, states, “It’s an honor to host Calvin Harris’ first ever virtual concert, which will push the boundaries of what is possible for artists going LIVE on TikTok and PICO,” said Paul Hourican, Global Head of Music Operations at TikTok.”
“Calvin is a globally acclaimed DJ and performer,” he continues “responsible for some of the biggest electronic hits and headlining massive international festivals,”
“We’ve loved working with Calvin, Mark, and the whole team as well as Wave and PICO to create this experience, which is going to be a special moment for the global TikTok community.”
It is not yet known the exact length of the virtual performance, nor is it known what tracks the DJ will perform. With all of this still to be announced, we can only speculate what kind of show Harris is going to put on. However, it’s safe to predict that Harris will likely perform tracks from his latest album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, which he released in August.
