JioSaavn Replay shows the top-streamed artists and songs on the Indian streaming service. Who were the top artists on JioSaavn in 2021?

Indian music service JioSaavn’s Replay 2021 is similar to Spotify Wrapped, giving users a personal overview of their favourite artists and most-streamed songs of the year.

The streaming service and RouteNote partner also revealed the most popular artists charting high on the platform – and independent artists took several of the top spots.

Who were the most-streamed artists on JioSaavn in 2021?

JioSaavn looked at streaming data from between January and November, and found that Justin Bieber and Jubin Nautiyal shared the title of the number one most streamed artist on JioSaavn in 2021.

But independent artists on the platform are also catching up with top artists on JioSaavn, with Stebin Ben, B Praak and Payal Dev flying high on the most-streamed lists.

JioSaavn credited the rise of independent artists on the platform to dedicated fans streaming and sharing new music. It shows too how music streaming opens up a world of opportunity for artists to find success without the need for a record contract – staying in control of their music.

The most-streamed Indian artists on JioSaavn were Jubin Nautiyal, Arijit Singh and Alka Yagnik. In terms of international artists, Justin Bieber, Alan Walker and DJ Snake made up the top three most popular artists in 2021. BTS, meanwhile, were unsurprisingly the biggest K-Pop band.

In terms of the genre of music streamed, the most-played was Pop, with EDM and Hip-Hop second and third. Devotional, Desi hip Hop and K-Pop were close behind.

In a statement, JioSaavn said: “This data showcases some interesting trends and shifts in behaviour of the country’s audience. It highlights the strong growth of the audio streaming industry and the increasing popularity of online streaming in the larger entertainment landscape.”

“It also highlights the significance of constant innovation coupled with listening to audience preference, leading to a unique experience that the audiences look forward to.”
