Amazon signs singer Lizzo to create new TV shows

American singer-songwriter Melissa Jefferson, known as the Grammy-award winning Lizzo, has been signed up to Amazon Studios. The musician and voice actor has been hired in to aid Amazon in creating new ideas and developing new TV content.
Amazon Studios head, Jennifer Salke said: “Lizzo is one of the most exciting, creative, joyful artists in the industry, and it is such a pleasure to announce this new deal with her. She has such a unique perspective and we’re so excited to hear her ideas for new content that our Prime Video customers are sure to love.”
Beyond her huge music career, Lizzo has already made features in Film and TV. She lent her voice to act in the animated musical film UglyDolls and appeared in last year’s film HUSTLERS alongside Cardi B and Jennifer Lopez.
Amazon Studios announced the partnership at their virtual Television Critics Association press tour. Their co-leaders of Amazon Studios television Albert Cheng and Vernon Sanders revealed the new deal with Lizzo. Cheng said that she is a “force of positivity”.
