Apple Music has officially arrived on ChatGPT, offering smarter music recommendations. Here’s how users can connect their account, and how it works.
Apple Music has landed inside ChatGPT
Just a day after it was revealed that Apple Music would soon be one of the latest apps to join ChatGPT, the integration has now officially gone live. Apple Music users can now connect their account directly within ChatGPT and start requesting songs, albums, artists, and playlists using natural language prompts. For listeners, it’s a new way to discover more personalized recommendations.
How Apple Music works inside ChatGPT
Apple Music’s integration with ChatGPT works in a similar way to ChatGPT’s existing partnership with Spotify.
Once connected, Apple Music users can ask ChatGPT to build playlists, or surface recommendations based on the conversational context. It’s smarter than manually having to search or find the tracks yourself, as fans can simply describe what they’re looking for and ChatGPT will handle the rest.
For example, you could ask ChatGPT for “a complete playlist of all the 80s songs used in Stranger Things”, and ChatGPT will find the songs and create the playlist for you. Or, if you’re struggling to track down “that song from the intro of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” that you can’t quite remember the name of, ChatGPT can do that for you too.
From there, you’ll be able to preview tracks directly, or jump straight into Apple Music to listen along.
How to connect Apple Music to ChatGPT
Getting set up is easy. Here’s how to link your Apple Music account to the app on ChatGPT:
- Head to the Apps section within ChatGPT at chatgpt.com/apps
- Select Apple Music
- Connect your Apple Music account
Once your account is linked, ChatGPT can tap into Apple Music whenever it may be relevant in the conversation. You can specifically trigger Apple Music in a couple of ways. Users can start a prompt with “/Apple Music” within a conversation, or select the Apple Music before starting a conversation. This isn’t a necessity though. You can also just let ChatGPT automatically pull Apple Music into the conversation when it makes sense.
In simple terms, ChatGPT is making music discovery a whole lot easier for Apple Music users.
