Spotify has teamed up with TuneMyMusic for easy, in-app playlist transfers from rival platforms.

Spotify has introduced a new feature designed to make switching from other music streaming platforms far easier than before. Instead of having to use third-party websites or leave the app entirely, you can now transfer your existing playlists directly from within Spotify’s mobile interface.

The move follows a recent update that integrates TuneMyMusic into Spotify. The tool, long used by listeners to transfer playlists between platforms, has now been built into Spotify’s own Your Library tab. A simple tap on “Import your music” redirects you to a TuneMyMusic window inside the app, where you can connect your accounts and begin the transfer.

According to Cult of Mac, it works “in just a few taps,” making the process quicker and less of a hassle than before. One notable benefit is the removal of the usual limit that TuneMyMusic places on direct transfers. When using the service via Spotify, there is no restriction on the number of tracks you can move.

The tool supports transfers from a wide range of major streaming services. However, it’s designed only for importing into Spotify and not for exporting playlists out of it. Spotify wants to remove a common barrier for people thinking about switching – the fear of losing work spent building playlists over the years.

The rollout comes shortly after Apple Music introduced a similar feature using SongShift, which allows users to bring across playlists, albums and liked songs from rival services. Spotify’s version follows suit, partnering with TuneMyMusic instead and making the feature available globally on mobile in the coming days.

Once your playlists are imported, Spotify offers several ways to customise them further. As the company highlighted in its recent newsroom update, users can collaborate on playlists, design custom cover art, and, in selected regions, Premium members can use Smart Filters to organise music by mood, style or activity. Importing your playlists also helps Spotify learn your taste more quickly, allowing personalised features like Release Radar to feel relevant sooner.

By integrating playlist transfer directly into its app, Spotify has taken a practical step towards helping users transition smoothly from other platforms without starting from scratch. It makes switching simpler and keeps your music history intact.
