As we all wait for news about the Nintendo Switch 2, the games company have just launched something surprising.

Nintendo have just made a big announcement of a brand new service. No, it’s not got anything to do with the upcoming Switch console. This one’s for the music lovers.

Nintendo have announced a new mobile app called Nintendo Music. The app is only available to Switch Online subscribers and has a very specific music library available to stream. Users can enjoy the songs that have soundtracked their gaming experiences over the decades.

Nintendo Music features songs from the game publisher’s biggest titles including The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon. There are curated playlists that allow you to mix the queue up between games based on vibe. Playlists are themed around games, moments, moods, or characters, and of course, you can build your own.

Nintendo Music supports streaming online, but there is also an option to download tracks to listen to offline. A nifty little feature lets you keep things exciting when you’re actually playing the games, selecting a spoiler feature that filters out tracks you may not have heard in a game you haven’t yet completed.

Interestingly, as game songs are often designed to seamlessly loop for however long the character is in a particular section, the app allows you to do the same. Users can loop songs or extend them to 15, 30, and 60 minute timeframes.

The app launched this week in these regions. If you’re not on the list, don’t worry as there are plans to launch in further territories soon.

Nintendo have also recently announced an alarm clock and the sneaky reveal of an MMO that’s currently being tested. It seems they’re dropping everything but more on the Switch 2.
