Electronic music is bigger than ever on TikTok in 2024
Short-form video platform, TikTok launches the #ElectronicMusic hub globally, celebrating the genre and community.
Launched in the UK in 2022, #ElectronicMusic is a curated collection of content celebrating the genre and its community on TikTok. Now, active for a month, the #ElectronicMusic hub is expanding to Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, USA and Australia. This launch coincides with Amsterdam Dance Event which just wrapped up ADE 2024, the annual electronic music conference and festival.
In a recent news article announcing the launch, TikTok mentions electronic music is one of the most celebrated genres on TikTok and highlights their impact to help artists get discovered, reach new audiences and build engaged fanbases, via the genre’s recent resurgence. Whether its through sharing music, remixing tracks or creating trends, TikTok attributes this success to artists like Jazzy, Kenya Grace, and Chase & Status, as well as subgenres like drum and bass, techno, trance, and Amapiano.
TikTok says #ElectronicMusic video creation is up 70% year-over-year. #DnB is up 50%, #Techno 63%, and #Trance has seen a massive 73% increase.
Electronic music has made its spiritual home on TikTok. It’s the perfect place for artists to showcase their creativity through both music and visuals, and fans are sharing their love for the genre by remixing sounds, driving trends, and posting clips from their favourite live sets, which are then watched and shared in their millions by the global TikTok community. This year TikTok was home to 3.5 billion views of Tomorrowland, 40 million posts by fans paying homage to the scarves of Keinemusik’, and over 100 million views of breakout stars ANOTR taking fans on a musical journey of their trip..

TikTok highlights some of the electronic artists making waves on the platform over the past year:
- Dimitri Vegas (@dimitrivegas), a trailblazer in expanding the sounds of EDM globally as well as the evolution of EDM, Dimitri Vegas has helped push the genre forward, blending house, techno and electronic sounds that resonate with both festival-goers and his 2.3 million followers among the global TikTok community. We’re thrilled that Dimitri Vegas will also be the face of #ElectronicMusic across Europe for the next month.
- Hannah Laing (@hannahlaingdj), a Scottish DJ known for her energetic and dynamic sets, crowned as the “Queen of ‘#DOOF,'” a term she uses to describe the high-energy, feel-good music she plays. Laing transitioned from a career as a dental nurse to becoming a full-time DJ, now enjoying incredible success in the electronic music scene. Hannah frequently uses TikTok to share snippets of her performances, behind-the-scenes content and to promote her music including tracks like ‘Party All The Time‘ and ‘Good Love‘.
- Eliza Rose (@elizarosemusik): A breakthrough artist on TikTok, who gained widespread recognition through her UK #1 hit single ‘B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All)’ (#8 on Billboard US Hot Dance). Eliza Rose’s success as an electronic artist has been marked by her unique blend of house, garage, and other underground sounds, which resonates on dance floors and with mainstream audiences.
- Adam Port (@adamport_keinemusik), has captivated global audiences, showing that TikTok can amplify niche electronic sounds to mainstream popularity. The Afrobeats-laced melodic house track by German DJ/Producer Adam Port (from the iconic Keinemusik label and collective, and known for wearing a headscarf while DJing), with US producer Stryv and US singer Malachiii, has become a commercial hit thanks to its virality on TikTok, after Adam Port teased it at shows and fans uploaded live recordings and bootlegs, sending it viral before the track’s official release.
- Charli xcx (@charlixcx), whose ‘BRAT’ campaign has become a true cultural phenomenon, demonstrating how electronic-influenced pop can thrive on TikTok and create trends that truly transcend the platform. Charli expertly harnessed TikTok to amplify the music’s discoverability, turning the app green and launching numerous trends including the infamous ‘Apple Dance‘.
- Chase & Status (@chaseandstatus), icons of the Drum and Bass scene who have used TikTok to bring their genre to new listeners and rejuvenate its popularity among younger generations. ‘BACKBONE‘ spread quickly, with the community creating content around the high-energy track, boosting its popularity and landing it at #1 in the UK Official Charts. With the success of ‘BACKBONE‘ and ‘Baddadan‘, Chase & Status have introduced Drum & Bass to a fresh audience, appealing to a new generation while maintaining their status as icons in the electronic music world.
- Jazzy (@jazzyofficial), Ireland’s breakout electronic star, who has seen her music soar on TikTok, turning trending moments into long-term streaming success. - Amelie Lens (@amelielenske), a prominent French DJ known for her hard-hitting techno sets, has seen incredible success on TikTok, amassing 440K followers. Amelie Lens has hugely expanded her fanbase through TikTok and solidified her position as a leading figure in the global techno scene.
- Billy Gillies (@billygilliesmusic), a Northern Irish DJ and electronic music producer, has experienced a significant rise on TikTok. His track DNA (Loving You), featuring Hannah Boleyn, became one of 2023’s biggest dance hits, amassing over 120 million streams globally and achieving a top 10 spot on the UK Official Singles Chart.
- Deborah De Luca (@deborahdelucaofc), an Italian DJ and producer, known for her hard techno and minimal sound, she has built a significant following on TikTok (1.5M followers), where she uses the platform to engage fans by posting clips from her live performances, including iconic venues like the Diego Maradona Stadium, as well as snippets of her production process.
- Shygirl (@0800shygirl), a London-born DJ and singer-songwriter, has had an incredible journey on TikTok. As the face of the UK launch of the #ElectronicMusic campaign, her trending hit ‘UCKERS’ in 2021 (150k creations) built on her growing popularity within the electronic music community which has now seen the artist supporting Charli xcx on the ‘BRAT’ tour as well as launching her own night at Warehouse Project this season.
