YouTube Music testing new daily track discovery feature
YouTube Music appears to be trialling a new Daily Discover feature that recommends tracks based on your listening habits.
Music fans may soon have another way to find new songs on YouTube Music. The platform is testing a fresh recommendation tool called Your Daily Discover, spotted recently by Android Authority from screenshots shared on Reddit.
This new feature appears in the homepage feed of YouTube Music’s mobile app, offering a carousel of individual track suggestions. Each recommendation comes with a short note explaining why it has been chosen – for example, “because you liked X” or “for fans of Y”.
According to reports, the Daily Discover section sits above the “Trending songs for you” area on Android, although its exact placement seems to vary for different users. In some earlier sightings, it appeared in other positions on the homepage, suggesting YouTube is experimenting with layout to see what gets the most attention.
The carousel format lets listeners swipe left or right to explore multiple tracks, and there’s also a “Play All” button to instantly hear them as a playlist. Unlike some discovery tools that deliver playlists only, this one focuses on single tracks, potentially making it easier to dip into something new without committing to an entire mix.
The aim is to help users find fresh artists and songs based on their listening history. This approach is similar to other services’ recommendation features, like Spotify’s Discover Weekly feature.
The Daily Discover feature has not been officially announced, and for now it appears to be part of a limited server-side test. That means updating the app won’t necessarily make it appear – it’s being switched on selectively for certain accounts.
If it launches widely, this could be a welcome addition for those who enjoy exploring beyond their regular playlists.
