The AI-powered radio feature is now being rolled out to iOS users.

YouTube Music has expanded its AI-driven “Ask Music” feature to iPhone and iPad users, enhancing the music discovery experience. Initially launched for Android in September, this tool allows users to create personalised radio stations through simple prompts. Ask Music was pushed more on the app for Premium users on Android last month, but the expansion is in full force.

Upon updating the YouTube Music app, users will notice an “Ask for music” section near the top of the Home tab. This area showcases ten suggested prompts; selecting one generates a custom radio station instantly. Additionally, there’s an “Ask any way you like” field with a voice input option, enabling users to input prompts that “describe a mood, activity, or listening experience.”

After entering a prompt, the AI curates a radio station within seconds. The station’s card displays the first three tracks, with autoplay enabled. Users can save the station by tapping “Add to library.” Each station also features a brief, engaging description to set the tone.

The ‘Ask Music’ feature complements the existing ‘Music Tuner’ tool, which lets users select artists and adjust settings like artist variety, music discovery, and filters. To access ‘Music Tuner,’ navigate to the Library tab, tap the new floating action button (FAB), and select ‘Radio.’

To utilise ‘Ask Music,’ users need a YouTube Music or Music Premium subscription. As of December, the feature is available in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. The recent update extends support to iOS devices running version 8.10 or later.
