Warner acquires Africa-based music distributor Africori
Warner Music Group expands its footprint in Africa with the acquisition of leading music distributor Africori
Africori has been a key player in Africa’s music industry since its launch in 2009, working with over 7,000 artists, including big names like Kelvin Momo, Master KG, Nkosazana Daughter, Oscar Mbo, and TitoM & Yuppe. Over the years the company has built one of the largest independent song catalogs in Africa and has played a major role in helping artists gain international recognition.
Africori will continue to operate independently with CEO Yoel Kenan, who is now reporting to Temi Adeniji, managing director of Warner Music Africa.
Africori and Warner have already proven to be a strong team having been working together previously on releases such as Master KG’s global hit “Jerusalema” and more recently, TitoM & Yuppe’s “Tshwala Bam” which has gone five-times Platinum in South Africa.
Yoel Kenan, Africori’s CEO, is excited about this next chapter, saying, “From the start, our goal has been to connect African music with fans worldwide. This partnership only strengthens that mission.”
Temi Adeniji of Warner Music Africa added, “Over the last four years, we’ve shown that when you invest in African music and artists, the results speak for themselves.”
Warner’s expansion into Africa isn’t stopping here—they’ve already worked with Chocolate City, WCB-Wasafi, Coleske, and Ziiki Media, and this latest move with Africori further cements their commitment.
