Ultimate Ears just announced their smallest and cheapest portable speaker yet
The MINIROLL is the latest portable Bluetooth speaker from Ultimate Ears. It’s $80 and comes in a super compact form.
Audio manufacturer Ultimate Ears, known for their portable speakers, just launched their new wireless speaker. In a lineup that stretches to $400, the MINIROLL is the companies cheapest one at $79.99.
MINIROLL started with a consumer ask. We heard our fans loud and clear: they wanted a speaker that could strap in and go anywhere to keep up with their active lifestyles. This led our design and engineering teams to build our most portable speaker, showing how passionate consumers can drive innovation.

The disc design of the MINIROLL is reminiscent of Ultimate Ears’ discontinued ROLL and ROLL 2 speakers. The speaker measures 122.67 x 105 x 48.15 mm (4.8 x 4.1 x 1.9 inches) and weighs just 279g (9.8 ounces). With a hookable strap too, the speaker is super easy to transport. Similarly to other Ultimate Ears speakers, the MINIROLL has very large volume control buttons on the front, plus two buttons on the side, which control power, pairing, play, pause and PartyUp mode.
MINIROLL is rugged, with a drop-proof rating of up to 1.2m (4ft), and IP67 water and dust resistant, which allows the speaker to submerged for up to 30 minutes. On the inside, there’s a 45.6mm active driver and 37.75 x 65mm passive radiator.
The Bluetooth speaker has a range of 40 meters (131ft). PartyUp mode allows you to sync an unlimited number of MINIROLL speakers together using Auracast. You cannot connect MINIROLL with any other Ultimate Ears speakers.
You’ll get 12 hours of play time on a single charge. The speaker charges via USB-C. There’s unfortunately no cable or plug in the box.
MINIROLL comes in four colors, Gentle Black, Majestic Blue, Calming Pink and Revive Grey. It’s available to order today on the Ultimate Ears website for $79.99. If size isn’t a factor, it should also be noted that Ultimate Ears’ larger WONDERBOOM 4 speaker is currently on sale, also priced at $79.99. While we don’t have both speakers to test side-by-side, I’d imagine the larger form-factor of the WONDERBOOM would produce a larger sound.
