TikTok hits 200 million monthly users in Europe amid rapid growth
One in three Europeans are on TikTok. Discover how the app hit 200 million monthly users and what it means for its future.
In a clear demonstration of its enduring appeal, TikTok has now surpassed 200 million monthly active users across Europe, reaching approximately one in every three people on the continent. This continues the app’s rapid expansion, building on last year’s 175 million-user base across 32 countries.
TikTok’s growth in Europe has been fueled by its cultural resonance with younger demographics, particularly teenagers, who gravitate toward its short-form entertainment and viral challenges. The platform’s user base increased by around 25 million in just 12 months, showcasing a strong year-over-year rise.
Globally, TikTok boasts over 1 billion monthly users, and Europe now represents a substantial chunk of its global footprint.
TikTok is currently navigating heavy regulatory scrutiny, particularly around data privacy. In May 2025, it was fined €530 million by the EU’s lead privacy authority for breaches involving EU user data transfers to China, an incident still under appeal.
Despite this, TikTok continues to invest in compliance and data localization efforts, hoping to sustain trust and expand its presence across the region.
With more than 200 million users tuning in monthly, TikTok is cementing its position as a major marketing channel. Advertisers and creators alike are following suit, making Europe a critical hub for future growth, especially as the platform explores new avenues like in-stream shopping and AI-driven engagement.
By the end of 2024, TikTok reported approximately 175 million users, meaning it added a significant 25 million users in only a year.
While the platform faces data privacy challenges, its growing European footprint underscores its dominance in short-form media and its strategic importance for creators, advertisers, and regulators alike.
