Spotify’s new ‘Music Pro’ tier
Spotify is rumored to be bringing high-fidelity (HiFi) audio to its users with a brand-new premium tier called Music Pro, and it looks like it’s coming with some extras.
Spotify is reportedly gearing up to launch this new subscription tier, which could include lossless audio, AI-powered remixing tools, and even concert ticket perks.
What’s included in Music Pro?
So, what exactly will this new tier offer? While Spotify hasn’t confirmed the details yet, here’s what’s rumored to be on the way:
- HiFi Audio – Finally! Music Pro is expected to introduce lossless, CD-quality sound, giving audiophiles a better listening experience. Unlike Apple Music and Amazon Music, which offer high-fidelity audio at no extra cost, Spotify is likely bundling it into a more premium package.
- AI Remixing Tools – This one’s really interesting. Reports suggest that users may get access to AI-powered remix features, letting them tweak and personalize songs in creative ways.
- Concert Ticket Perks – Music Pro might also offer exclusive or early access to concert tickets, making it easier for fans to secure seats for their favorite artists’ shows.
How much will it cost?
Of course, all these new features come at a price. Music Pro is rumored to cost $5–$6 extra per month on top of the existing $11.99 Premium plan, bringing the total to around $17.99 per month. While that’s pricier than Apple Music or Amazon Music (which already include lossless audio for free), Spotify is betting that the extra perks will make it worth it.
Spotify first announced plans for HiFi audio back in 2021, but it never actually launched. So why bring it out now? A few possible reasons:
- Competition is heating up. Apple Music and Amazon Music already offer lossless streaming, and YouTube Music is rolling out its own “Music AI” features.
- Exclusive content could be a game-changer. Reports suggest Spotify has locked in new multi-year licensing deals with major record labels, which might mean exclusive songs, remixes, or behind-the-scenes content.
- More revenue from power users. Spotify is looking to encourage superfans—the people who stream the most and spend money on merch, concerts, and experiences—to upgrade to a higher tier.
When will Music Pro launch?
There’s no official release date yet, but rumors suggest it could roll out later in 2025. Given that Spotify has been working on HiFi for years, it’s likely that they’ll make an official announcement soon.
