Premium users in the US and Canada can now watch official videos without ever leaving Spotify.

Spotify has officially launched music videos for Premium users in the United States and Canada. After being tested in other regions last year, the feature is now rolling out across North America in beta, with wider availability expected by the end of the month. The news was officially announced this afternoon by Spotify through its For the Record newsroom.

We previously shared that Spotify was planning to bring music videos to the US and Canada earlier this year, before an official rollout date was confirmed. Now, the feature is finally live.

Premium users can now switch between audio and video within the Spotify app on mobile, desktop, and TV. When listening to a supported song, users will see a “Switch to video” button. Tapping it instantly starts the official music video from the exact point where the track is playing. Tapping “Switch to audio” returns the listener to audio-only playback without restarting the track.

At launch, the catalogue is still limited while the feature remains in beta. Early access includes music videos from artists such as Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, and Carín León. Spotify has confirmed that more videos will be added over the coming months.

When watching in video mode, the usual lyrics section is replaced with a new “Related Music Videos” area. This allows users to browse more official videos directly inside Spotify. Viewers can also find videos via artist profiles, the Music tab, and curated playlists by genre and era.

Charlie Hellman, Head of Music at Spotify, said, “Music videos are often the moment when an artist’s world really clicks for a listener – when the song and the visuals come together and turn a stream into fandom. By bringing official music videos to Premium listeners in the US and Canada, we’re bringing a richer discovery experience to fans, and providing additional revenue for publishers and songwriters.”

This launch follows Spotify’s wider push into visual content, including Canvas, Clips, Countdown Pages, and video podcasts. Music videos are now becoming a core part of the listening experience rather than a separate platform feature.
