RouteNote launches new initiative to promote gender equality in the music industry.

At RouteNote we acknowledge the clear evidence of gender inequality in the music industry, which is still a heavily male-dominated sector at all levels. Whilst we actively work to ensure RouteNote does not contribute to the issue at hand, now more than ever we think it is important to begin a dialogue on the subject. This is why we have created RouteNote Elevate. 

We want to talk about how, why and where the problems occur, as well as what can be done. We want to encourage conversation and shine a spotlight on overlooked rising women and non-binary artists and illuminate the dark corners that are usually glanced over.

Within RouteNote Elevate you can expect interviews with artists, professionals and academics on the topic of gender in the music industry, giving real-world insight; features exploring the context behind the data; a focus on building playlists featuring female-identifying and non-binary artists and professionals in the music industry; and information on where to go for further education on the matter.

Let’s talk about making the music industry a fairer and more equal place for all, regardless of gender.
