Record Store Day UK 2025 date confirmed
The official date for Record Store Day in the UK has been announced. Which artists will be getting involved this year?
Record Store Day 2025 UK is scheduled for Saturday, 12th April. On this day, music enthusiasts can look forward to exclusive vinyl releases, live performances, and various in-store events. These special releases are made exclusively for the day, and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion.
If you’re unfamiliar, Record Store Day (RSD) is a special event that unites over 270 independent record shops across the UK to celebrate their unique culture. Since its inception in 2007 in the US, RSD has become a global phenomenon, with thousands of shops participating worldwide. The first official event took place on April 19th, 2008, and it has since grown into the biggest new music event of the past decade.
For independent musicians and artists, RSD presents a unique opportunity to connect with fans and showcase their work. Participating in RSD can help artists reach new audiences and strengthen relationships with existing fans. It’s also a chance to support local record shops, which play a crucial role in promoting independent music. If you often find yourself wishing you grew up in a time where streaming didn’t exist and you had to queue patiently, brimming with excitement, at your local record store for a long-anticipated release, then RSD is the event for you.
It’s important to note that RSD releases are only available in-store on the day, and shops are not permitted to reserve products for customers. Therefore, arriving early is advisable to secure desired items (expect to be queuing for hours at popular independent record shops). Any remaining products will be available from participating store websites at 8pm on Monday, 14th April 2025.
For those unable to attend in person, some stores may offer online sales of remaining stock after the event. However, the essence of RSD lies in the experience of visiting record shops, engaging with the community, and celebrating the culture of vinyl.
This will be the 18th edition of Record Store Day, and we are still waiting to find out which artists will be getting involved. Traditionally, this information is released closer to the date of the event (April). Then, we’ll know which bands and artists will be releasing exclusive vinyl and special editions.
