Distributing covers on RouteNote just got easier!
You can now attach mechanical licenses directly to releases on RouteNote, making cover distribution seamless.
Cover songs are a great way to put your own spin on an old classic and find a whole new audience along the way. With RouteNote it’s easy to share your cover songs around the world. Now, with our first feature launch of the year, we’ve just made it even easier to distribute covers. Whether you’re distributing with a mechanical license or not, RouteNote will guide you through the process.
While you don’t need a mechanical license to distribute cover songs with RouteNote, it will allow you to distribute to more stores around the world. See more details here.
What’s new?
When creating a release on RouteNote, a new tick box asks whether your release contains any cover songs.
If you tick yes on the option above, when you’re entering track details, simply select which tracks are covers. From here you can also upload a mechanical license for each cover. Mechanical licenses must be in PDF format and under 10MB. If you upload a mechnical license, our moderation team will see it alongside your release.
If you do upload a mechnical license, your release will be sent to all of your selected stores in all territories around the world. If your release is a cover version, but you don’t upload a mechnical license, your release may need to be blocked in certain stores/territories. Find more details here.
