Roundhay Park is set for a massive new festival, with Lewis Capaldi leading the lineup. Here’s everything we know so far.

AEG Presents unveils plans for a major new event at Roundhay Park in Leeds. Roundhay Festival, the new event will launch in July 2026, bringing one of the world’s biggest live music promoters together with one of the country’s most iconic concert venues. AEG has already confirmed the first headliner: Lewis Capaldi, who will take to the stage on Saturday, 4 July 2026 in what promises to be one of the most talked-about comeback performances of the year.

Roundhay Park is no stranger to large-scale music history. Over the decades, its 700 acres of open fields, gardens and lakes have hosted some of the world’s most legendary acts, including Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Genesis and Ed Sheeran. Now, with AEG’s backing, the park will once again become a central stage for major live music, giving Leeds its own flagship festival to rival those in London and the South.

AEG is working in partnership with Leeds City Council to ensure the festival not only brings in big names but also delivers cultural and economic benefits to the region. Alongside the main performances, organisers have promised a midweek programme of free events, featuring arts, culture, wellbeing activities and showcases of local talent. Sustainability is also at the heart of the plans, with commitments to responsible travel initiatives, reduced waste, and working closely with local suppliers to minimise the environmental impact of the festival.

The announcement of Lewis Capaldi as the first headliner has already generated some excitement. The Scottish singer-songwriter has been largely absent from major touring in recent years after stepping back to focus on his health, but this headline performance at Roundhay will mark a high-profile return to the festival circuit. For fans, it’s a chance to see an artist whose music has defined a generation of British pop return to one of the country’s biggest outdoor stages.

Tickets will go on sale in mid-September 2025, with presales opening first for American Express cardholders and through Capaldi’s own artist channels, before general sale begins on Friday, 19 September at 9am. Given the combination of Capaldi’s return, the historic venue, and the buzz of a brand-new festival, demand is expected to be extremely high.

While Capaldi is the only act announced so far, AEG has promised that more headliners and a full lineup will be revealed in the coming months. If its track record with festivals like BST Hyde Park and All Points East is anything to go by, Roundhay Festival is likely to deliver a mix of global stars, rising talent, and genre-spanning performances.

The arrival of Roundhay Festival is significant not just for Leeds, but for the UK festival calendar more broadly. It reflects AEG’s ambition to expand beyond London and diversify the geography of its festival portfolio, bringing world-class live music to new audiences. With the city’s strong musical heritage, a historic venue, and a first headliner that carries emotional weight, Roundhay Festival is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated live music events of 2026.
