TikTok and iHeartRadio officially launch TikTok Radio
TikTok and iHeartMedia are bringing the energy of the For You Page to live radio, creating new opportunities for music discovery and artist exposure.
Last November, TikTok and iHeartMedia announced a multi-platform partnership designed to connect creators, music, podcasts, and live programming. Now, we’re seeing the start of that partnership take shape with the launch of a live radio station.
TikTok Radio from iHeart arrives March 13, turning the culture and discovery engine of the For You Page into a live radio experience.
What will TikTok Radio look like?
The new station essentially blends TikTok’s trend-driven culture with iHeartRadio’s long-standing experience in broadcasting. Just like any other radio station, listeners should expect a station that mixes music, creator culture, internet trends, and real-time conversation.
However, TikTok Radio does aim to capture the same energy associated with the app itself too, as well as what is happening across TikTok at any given moment. That means a mix of songs gaining traction on the platform and discussions about trending topics, all across a number of segments.
These segments include a weekly countdown of the biggest songs trending on TikTok, as well as discussions about life hacks, internet culture, and new music releases. The station will also spotlight artists who are on the verge of breaking through, reinforcing TikTok’s reputation as a launchpad for emerging artists.
The station will feature established iHeartRadio personalities, with regular hosts including Kayla Thomas, Ashlee Young, Jon Comouche, Becky Mits, and Angelina Narvaez.
When and where will it be available?
TikTok Radio from iHeart goes live on March 13 from the iHeartPodcast Hotel at SXSW, where both creators and radio personalities will take part in the first broadcasts.
The station will be available through the free iHeartRadio app and across 28 broadcast radio stations throughout the US, including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, Miami, and more.
A bigger stage for music discovery
TikTok has long positioned itself as one of the most influential platforms for driving music discovery. The platform often helps break new artists, push older tracks into the spotlight, and shape charts worldwide.
Plus, we have already seen the company work with iHeartRadio on “Next Up: Live Music”, a live singing competition streamed exclusively on the platform. The show highlighted how creator-led content can fuel engagement and help emerging artists reach new audiences.
By launching its own radio station with iHeartRadio, TikTok is taking its musical influence even further. Instead of discovery happening purely within the app, trending music and creator conversations can now reach listeners beyond the For You Page.
For artists, that could mean more opportunities for their music to travel beyond TikTok itself. A viral moment on TikTok could now feed directly into radio play, offering greater visibility and the opportunity to get discovered by even more fans.
Alongside launching TikTok Radio, the companies also announced the first creators for its TikTok Podcast Network.
“We couldn’t be more excited to launch TikTok Radio and introduce our inaugural slate of hosts for the TikTok Podcast Network. At TikTok, empowering creators to turn their passions into lasting careers is core to everything we do, and this partnership unlocks powerful new opportunities for them to expand their voices across radio, podcasts and live moments, while connecting with fans in new ways.”
