Meta launches ‘Vibes’ feed dedicated to AI videos
Meta doubles down on AI with a brand-new feed for AI-generated videos. It’s a new video feed that’s stirring debate.
Meta’s new Vibes feed
Meta is rolling out Vibes, a new feed dedicated entirely to AI-generated short-form videos. The feature is going live across the Meta AI app and on meta.ai. The announcement came directly from Mark Zuckerberg himself on Instagram.
How does it work?
Vibes works and looks the same as any other social media feed. Thanks to AI, you can easily:
- Create videos from scratch
- Remix videos you see in the feed
- Share your creations directly to the feed, via DMs, or even Instagram
Meta even promises the feed will get more personalised over time:

So, what are people saying?
If you think an AI-only feed sounds like a hard sell, you’re not alone. Unsurprisingly, early feedback has been far from positive. As TechCrunch reports, the top comments under Zuckerberg’s announcement post are questioning the feed. Comments include: “gang nobody wants this💔🥀” or ‘bros posting ai slop on his own app’.
That’s the real issue. The internet is already drowning in AI-generated ‘slop’, content that is repetitive, unoriginal content that clogs up feeds. In fact, earlier this year Meta themselves pledged to crack down on this kind of low-effort AI spam content. Yet, the rollout of Vibes seems to prove otherwise.
Why are Meta pushing Vibes?
So, why would Meta roll out a feed that users were always bound to be skeptical of? A few reasons come to mind:
- Lowering the barrier to content creation: Not everyone has the skills (or time) to shoot and edit a video. With Vibes, anyone can churn out AI content with ease.
- Showcasing Meta’s AI tools: Meta already has AI-assisted translation and quick video edit tools which have clear uses. Vibes serves as another way to spotlight the power of Meta AI’s tools.
- Keeping AI separate?: Maybe Meta hopes Vibes will become a dumping ground for AI videos, keeping them separate from Instagram Reels and Facebook feeds. But given Vibes integration with Instagram, that feels unlikely.
Final thoughts
Meta’s launch of Vibes is certainly an interesting choice. Sure, it opens the door for anyone (including artists) to create content instantly. But, when the internet is already weary of endless AI spam, doubling down on it might not be the smartest move.
For the music industry, Vibes could become a quick tool for quick, low-cost fan engagement. However, it could just be another feed of forgettable AI noise.
