Amazon Music Unlimited prices are increasing
Amazon Music Unlimited is raising its prices, here’s what you need to know about the new rates and features.
Amazon has officially announced a price increase for its Music Unlimited streaming service, which will affect users in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. The new pricing structure takes effect for new subscribers starting January 29, 2025, while existing customers will see the updated rates applied to their next renewal date on or after March 5, 2025.
This marks the second price hike in less than two years, following an earlier increase in August 2023. As competition intensifies in the music streaming space, Amazon is adjusting its rates to keep up with industry trends and expand its content offerings.
New pricing
For individual subscribers:
- Prime Members:
- Monthly price increasing from $9.99 to $10.99
- Annual plan rising from $99 to $109
- Non-Prime Members:
- Monthly price increasing from $10.99 to $11.99
For families (Up to 6 Users):
- Monthly price rising from $16.99 to $19.99
- Annual plan increasing from $169 to $199
Amazon has not yet announced changes to its discounted student plans, which currently stand at $5.99 per month. However, adjustments could be made in the near future.
Does this affect prime members? Amazon Prime members have access to slightly lower subscription rates for Amazon Music Unlimited as part of their membership perks. While they will continue to receive a discount compared to non-Prime subscribers, the price gap is shrinking.
Why is Amazon raising prices?
Amazon stated that the increase will help increase efforts to “bring you even more content and new features.” The price hike aligns Amazon Music Unlimited with competing services such as Spotify and Apple Music, which have also raised their prices in recent years.
Additionally, Amazon Music Unlimited has been expanding its content offerings and features, including:
- One free audiobook per month for subscribers
- Yearly recap features similar to Spotify Wrapped
- Exclusive artist content and high-quality lossless audio
