Spotify expands music video beta
Spotify announces expansion of the music video beta feature to additional markets allowing users to switch between video and standard view.
Earlier this year, Spotify introduced its music video beta, and it has now announced expansion, bringing the feature to an additional 85 markets. This move signals Spotify’s commitment to enhancing the user experience by blending audio and visual content.
What is the Spotify Music Video Beta?
The feature enables select premium users to toggle between the standard Spotify playback view and a music video view for tracks with an available video by selecting the “switch to video” option
Key Features
Key features of Spotify music videos include versatile viewing modes, allowing users to watch in both portrait and landscape by simply rotating their device. When switching to music video mode, the audio will automatically sync with the video version, replacing the original track. Additionally, Spotify provides recommendations based on the current video being watched, helping listeners discover related videos.
Spotify has shared promising statistics about the impact of the music video feature:
- Listeners who watch music videos are 34% more likely to revisit that release within a week.
- Songs discovered with music videos are 24% more likely to be saved or shared by users who watched the video.
These numbers show that integrating visual elements alongside music can boost engagement and fan interaction.
While the feature is still in beta, only a limited number of distributors can upload music videos to Spotify. Unfortunately, RouteNote doesn’t currently offer music video distribution, but if we hope to expand to this in the future we’ll let you know on the RouteNote blog.
