Yamaha Launch A New Download Store

Yamaha have launched a new web site at www.yamahadownload.com. The focus of the new site is on artist interviews, news and reviews, with several big names are involved in the launch, including The Editors, Elbow and Paulo Nutini. The site will also host tips and hints from top front-of-house engineers and performers, as well as regular weekly promotions.

Yamaha have also announced the details of the final heat of their Band For A Grand competition, where unsigned acts compete to win £1000 of Yamaha gear and time in a top recording studio. The final of the year-long competition will be held on December 7^th at the Stables in Milton Keynes, where the five most popular bands from the tour will battle it out for the prize. You can even use the new site to vote for your favourite band.

Massive Attack Split The Atom

Massive Attack have confirmed that they will release their new EP on October 5th named ’split the atom’.

The group have told the world that the EP will feature friends of theirs including Guy Garvey from Elbow and TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe. Massive attack will release their 5th album in February, which is intended to be a follow up to 2003’s 100th Window. Damon Albarn is also confirmed to be making a guest appearance on the new album.

Massive Attack are stringing along some dates in London toward the end of summer with, among others, three back to back dates at London’s Brixton Academy 17th,18th,19th of September.
