Wacken Open Air has announced its first major collection of artists for 2027.
Electric Callboy, Helloween and Five Finger Death Punch are among the biggest names confirmed for the German metal festival.
Wacken returns from 28–31 July 2027, with dozens of artists already announced across different metal genres.
Who is playing Wacken Open Air 2027?
The first wave includes Electric Callboy, Helloween, Five Finger Death Punch, Knocked Loose, DragonForce, Children Of Bodom and Dethklok.
Other notable performers include Halestorm, Jinjer, Avatar, HammerFall, Dark Tranquillity, Overkill, Napalm Death, Heaven Shall Burn, Imminence and Malevolence.
Edguy, Feuerschwanz, Beast In Black, Gaerea, Shadow Of Intent, Sylosis, Crypta and Metal Church are also confirmed.
More bands are expected to be announced before the festival.
Electric Callboy bring a different sound to Wacken
Electric Callboy are one of the most recognisable names from Germany’s modern metal scene.
The band have built an enormous international following through their combination of heavy guitar music, electronic production and deliberately extravagant live performances.
Their appearance demonstrates how much metal festival lineups have evolved.
Traditional heavy metal remains important at Wacken, but electronicore, metalcore and hardcore now sit comfortably alongside established genres.
Helloween celebrate their legacy
Helloween are another major attraction.
The German power metal band have been influential since the 1980s, helping establish the melodic and technically ambitious sound associated with European power metal.
Their appearance forms part of their ongoing anniversary celebrations.
DragonForce, HammerFall and Beast In Black should also appeal to fans of this side of the metal scene.
Children Of Bodom return to the stage
Children Of Bodom provide one of the most significant individual bookings.
The Finnish metal band’s 2027 performances will feature vocalist Samy Elbanna of Lost Society, following the death of original frontman Alexi Laiho.
For longtime fans, the appearance represents an opportunity to hear the band’s catalogue performed live again.
Another notable booking is John Bush performing songs associated with his time in Anthrax.
Primordial are also scheduled to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of To The Nameless Dead with a special full-album performance.

Wacken Open Air takes place from Wednesday 28 July through Saturday 31 July 2027 near Wacken in northern Germany.
The current lineup is an early announcement rather than the complete festival programme.
