‘Before I Go’ opens Round 2 of Super Rookie Challenge’s first Vocal Season, one of two title tracks. Seven singers take a part each: Huiii, J, M’ewn, YUNILI, Chadasom, Brenny and 심각한 개구리.

WOOLF, 김공감 and Dime made the mid-tempo R&B beat. The lyrics look back on the road so far and tell each other to keep going, as in ‘네 안의 빛을 절대 잃진 마 / 너만의 길을 따라 걸어가’ – never lose the light inside you, walk your own way. J-Lim of Aliment Records mixed and mastered it.

Seven voices, one quiet reminder to keep your own light.

Super Rookie Challenge has introduced new hip-hop and R&B artists since 2013, including punchnello, Cho Kwangil, Don Mills, YUNHWAY, SINCE and OVAN. The Vocal Season followed the hip-hop seasons, starting with ‘Overload’ and ‘Orbit’ in September. Nino of Black Soul is executive producer, and Sherpa Music manages the project.

The second title, ‘Dawn Prayer’, comes from NiNE (Choi Su-jong) and IBAN with seven more voices, YUL2 among them. The cypher came out the day before the Round 2 show at Prism Hall in Hongdae, with Kim Bo-kyung and Blue.D billed as special guests. Play it on a late walk home.
