Fire in the Mountains returns to the spectacular Red Eagle Campground on the Blackfeet Nation in Montana from 22–25 July 2027.

The festival has called its next edition the Year of the Eagle, and its first lineup announcement combines post-rock, metal, sludge and blues.

Who is playing Fire in the Mountains 2027?

The first wave features Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Nevermore and Russian Circles.

They’re joined by Stormkeep, Invunche, Rwake and Buffalo Nichols.

More artists are still to be announced.

It’s already an unusual collection.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s enormous instrumental soundscapes sit next to the reunited Nevermore, instrumental post-metal from Russian Circles and sludge from Rwake.

Then Buffalo Nichols brings blues into the programme.

Nevermore’s return continues

Nevermore’s booking is particularly significant.

The band returned after a lengthy absence and Fire in the Mountains will provide another major North American festival appearance.

It also creates an interesting crossover with ProgPower USA, where Nevermore will appear later in 2027.
