One of Brazil’s major summer music festivals has revealed its first artists for 2027.

Festival de Verão Salvador returns on 23 and 24 January 2027 at Arena Festival in Salvador, Bahia, with a lineup spanning Brazilian pop, MPB, samba, pagode, forró, piseiro, axé and samba-reggae.

Who is playing Festival de Verão Salvador 2027?

Saturday 23 January features Maria Bethânia, Gilsons, BaianaSystem with IZA and É o Tchan.

There are also two major collaborative performances.

O Grande Encontro brings Alceu Valença, Elba Ramalho and Geraldo Azevedo together, while As Vozes features Péricles and Ferrugem.

Sunday currently features Marina Sena, João Gomes and Saulo, alongside a special joint performance from Timbalada and Olodum.

Two additional Sunday artists are still to be announced.

Timbalada and Olodum will perform together

This could be the most interesting booking on the entire programme.

Timbalada and Olodum will perform together throughout a specially created show rather than simply appearing separately on the same day.

The collaboration brings together two groups closely associated with Bahia’s percussion and samba-reggae traditions.

BaianaSystem and IZA are another interesting combination, connecting the group’s Afro-Bahian, reggae and sound-system influences with IZA’s pop and R&B background.

Maria Bethânia makes her Festival de Verão debut

Despite a career spanning more than six decades, Maria Bethânia is making her first appearance at Festival de Verão.

That gives the 2027 programme another strong story beyond the lineup itself.
