A completely new alternative music festival launches in Canterbury next summer.

Shadowlands Festival takes place from 1–4 July 2027 at the Gulbenkian Arts Centre, with its final lineup now expanded to 35 artists.

Who is playing Shadowlands 2027?

The initial announcement included Foetus, Lustmord, Test Dept, Clock DVA, The Wolfgang Press, Portion Control, :Zoviet*France:, Regis featuring Liam Andrews, People Like Us and Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan.

A further wave added These New Puritans, Matmos, Årabrot, Barry Adamson, Sunroof, JG Thirlwell solo, Negativland, The Soft Pink Truth, Carl Stone, Hula and others.

Foetus is preparing a rare UK performance

The Foetus performance could be Shadowlands’ biggest draw.

JG Thirlwell will present Foetus with a 20-piece chamber orchestra, performing material from HALT alongside older work.

It will be his first UK appearance as Foetus in more than 25 years.

Lustmord is another rarity, returning for his first UK performance in almost two decades, while Githead reunite following a 13-year absence.
