Q: What first inspired you to pursue music and how has that inspiration evolved over time?

From my very early age, the music has been an important part of my life and each song I loved always emotionally rooted in my memories. As I was going through my late teens, the situation started inverting,  my own thoughts and emotions started having their own melodies. As 17 years old I started  composing my own piano and guitar melodies. I never took any musical classes, I just took an instrument and followed my ears and heart. Suddenly I discovered a way, how to express my own thoughts and emotions  in universal language everyone understands, without saying a single word.

Q: Can you walk us through your creative process when writing, or composing a new piece?

When I compose new piece, It’s always from the moment. It’s like a lightning from the blue. I never think about “Ahh what should I compose today?” No. Either it’s the situation and experience I’m having in the moment, or just daydreaming, It eventually creates a music scenery in my head by itself. Just like when you watch a movie and  there’s a music that perfectly fits the scene. Then, I always have to take an instrument or open my music studio as soon as possible and lay down the basic melody from my idea. And from that  moment, when I  physically hear the melody, it just grows and evolves like a story and it’s unstoppable, lol 😆

Q: Which artists or genres have had the biggest influence on your sound and why?

My musical taste is very colorful and wide, from celtic music through chill out, dnb, metal, house, ambient to trance. But the genres that take up the most of my playlist, and eventually affected the sound of Sonic Speed Traveller project are trance, psybient, wave and house music, especially the trance music has the biggest influence on my sound. I love the emotional flow, psychedelics and the “state of trance”  feel of the trance music, whether it’s progressive, psy, uplifting or goa trance, it’s a storytelling music.  The artists that are my biggest inspirations  are Astrix, E-Mantra, StereOMantra and  Mindwave  for the psy/progressive trance and psybient, and MRJay and Skeler for the wave music

Q: What has been the most challenging moment in your musical journey so far and how did you overcome it?

The most challenging part of my music journey was, of course, learning how to work in DAW  and mainly, finding my own sound and character. Many artists are big inspiratios for me, but I don’t wanna be their exact copy, I want listeners to recognize my music as my own signature.  The way I slowly got through that fog is composing and experimenting and more composing and experimenting. Each and every new track I compose  is better and more characteristic to me, than the previous one. Everytime I listen to my compositions, I hear my own voice in there, take it and lift it up in next composition, and also, I hear what would I do differently next time. It’s like a constant state of dissatisfaction and self-criticism, you know, the pain that makes you grow, lol 😆. But I can say, that I am very proud of some of my latest tracks, namely: Twilight, Troposphere , even to the point, that I consider them tracks I’d love to listen to! And I do. Lol . And I think it’s a good sign that I’m moving forward and finding my own voice in the vast sea of great world’s music.

Q: What message, or emotion do you hope listeners take away from your music?

The message I’d like to pass is just pure emotions. Music, especially instrumental music is very universal, and even though my tracks represent my own thoughts and emotions, I want them to harmonize with my listeners and become their own life stories, the same way many songs from artists I love to listen became my own stories and memories. And even if there is just one person who resonates with my music, it’s a successful mission, because I know, that it means something to someone else out there.
