eMusic Has Joined Forces with RouteNote - 9th November 2007

Nov 9th, 2007: RouteNote has signed an agreement to make it’s catalogue available through eMusic’s online stores. eMusic is the world’s largest retailer of independent music and the world’s second-largest digital music retailer overall.

About eMusic

eMusic provides a subscription service to it’s 350,000 customers who buy an average of more than 20 DRM free MP3s per month (seven million tracks in total) from a catalogue spanning every genre, but concentrating on independent artists. Artists currently on their books include Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Bob Marley and Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Pixies, plus new artists like Neko Case, and the New Pornographers. RouteNote’s entire catalogue will be made available to eMusic’s subscribers, introducing our artists to a swathe of new listeners.

eMusic is currently owned by Dimensional Associates, who acquired it from VU Net USA in 2003. The company has grown from it’s start as GoodNoise in 1998, when it was the first company to sell music files in the MP3 format. Currently in the CEO’s chair is occupied by David Pakman, who has overseen eMusic’s huge growth in the last 4 years, and who hopes to take their subscribers past the million mark in the near future.
