class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exactly what it sounds like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Country music colliding with disco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That combination is not new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the late 1970s and early 1980s, country artists were already borrowing from the dancefloor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dolly Parton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glen Campbell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kenny Rogers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barbara Mandrell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Urban Cowboy-era country-pop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even songs that were not technically disco often contained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">lush strings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">four-on-the-floor rhythm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">glossy bass<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">large backing vocals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and arrangements designed to cross from country radio into mainstream pop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lambert is deliberately revisiting that period rather than pretending country and disco have never met before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Was \u201cCrisco\u201d the song that inspired the album?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It became the project\u2019s mission statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
