Their charging case can provide up to another 48 hours of use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is significantly longer than the battery life available on Meta&#8217;s new camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ray-Ban Meta Audio specifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The headline specifications include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>43g weight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to 12 hours of battery life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to an additional 48 hours using the charging case<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open-ear audio for music and podcasts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Built-in microphones for calls and AI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meta AI integration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No camera<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjustable temple tips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjustable or replaceable nose pads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overextension hinges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prescription lens compatibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>23 frame and lens combinations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two frame designs are available at launch: Clubmaster and Burbank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Could smart glasses replace your earbuds?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is potentially the most interesting part of Meta&#8217;s announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ray-Ban Meta Audio effectively take many of the everyday features of wireless earbuds and move them into a pair of glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can listen to Spotify or other music services, listen to podcasts, take calls and interact with an AI assistant while still being able to hear the environment around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open-ear audio isn&#8217;t entirely new. Products from companies such as Bose, Shokz and various smart-glasses manufacturers have experimented with similar technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Ray-Ban gives Meta something many technology companies struggle to achieve: a product people might actually want to wear regardless of the technology inside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you already wear sunglasses or prescription glasses for much of the day, adding music playback directly into them could make wearing separate headphones less necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">There is one major difference from earbuds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ray-Ban Meta Audio don&#8217;t physically sit inside your ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, speakers built into the arms of the glasses direct sound towards your ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means your ears remain open to the outside world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For walking, cycling, travelling around a city or working somewhere where you still need to hear what is happening around you, that can be useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a different experience from noise-cancelling headphones such as Apple AirPods Pro or Sony&#8217;s wireless earbuds, which are designed to isolate you from external sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two products therefore serve slightly different purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Traditional headphones are likely to remain better when you want maximum immersion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smart glasses could be better when you want music to become part of your everyday surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did Meta remove the camera?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is another obvious advantage to the Audio model: privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta&#8217;s camera-equipped smart glasses have faced increasing scrutiny over their ability to record people in public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta&#8217;s regular smart glasses contain an LED designed to make people aware when the camera is recording, and Meta says attempts to block or disable the capture light can disable the camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Audio glasses avoid that particular issue entirely because they simply don&#8217;t have a camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recent criticism surrounding wearable cameras has become a broader challenge for the smart-glasses industry, with concerns around consent and covert recording becoming more prominent as the technology has grown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An audio-focused model could therefore appeal to people who like the idea of smart glasses but don&#8217;t actually want to walk around wearing a camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meta AI is still built into the glasses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Removing the camera doesn&#8217;t mean removing the &#8220;smart&#8221; part of the glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users can still talk directly to Meta&#8217;s AI assistant using the built-in microphones and speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta is also introducing its Muse personal AI agent across its AI glasses ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company says Muse will be able to help users manage tasks, work towards longer-term goals and interact with information without constantly looking at a phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other Meta smart-glasses features include things such as live translation, sports information and local recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It points towards Meta&#8217;s bigger vision for smart glasses: not simply putting speakers into eyewear, but creating an AI assistant you can access throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much do Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses cost?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ray-Ban Meta Audio start at $349 in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta opened pre-orders on September 23, 2026, with shipping scheduled to begin on October 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the UK, the glasses are expected to cost from \u00a3319.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That puts them well above the price of most premium wireless earbuds, although buyers are obviously getting both Ray-Ban eyewear and the technology in a single product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meta also launched Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For people who do want a camera, Meta has also launched Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new generation gets a slimmer design and up to nine hours of battery life \u2014 one hour more than the previous generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>12MP camera<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3K Ultra HD video recording<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Six-microphone array<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improved background-noise reduction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meta AI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Customisable action button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to nine hours of battery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>27 frame and lens combinations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at $449 in the US and \u00a3409 in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three styles are available: Wayfarer, Aviator and the new Zena cat-eye design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta also says the glasses will later support video captured with Dolby Atmos and 360-degree spatial sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smart glasses are becoming audio products<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is particularly interesting about Ray-Ban Meta Audio is how Meta is positioning smart glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, the conversation around smart glasses has focused heavily on cameras, augmented reality and displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But one of the simplest applications may turn out to be one of the most useful: audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People already spend hours every day wearing headphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moving speakers, microphones and an AI assistant into something many people already wear could potentially make the technology feel far more natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no screen demanding your attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no camera continuously sitting on your face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, you simply put on a pair of Ray-Bans and your music, calls, podcasts and AI come with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are Ray-Ban Meta Audio worth buying?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That will largely depend on how much you value open-ear listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want powerful noise cancellation and the most immersive music experience possible, traditional headphones or premium earbuds will probably remain the better option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But if you already wear glasses regularly and want music, podcasts, calls and AI without constantly having something inside your ears, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio concept makes considerably more sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 12-hour battery life is particularly important because it moves the glasses closer to becoming an all-day device rather than something that needs to be continually recharged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta&#8217;s
