class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think of it as a permanent identifier for the master rather than the song title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An ISRC can help DSPs, distributors and rights companies connect activity with the correct recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can somebody copy your ISRC?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technically, somebody can obtain an existing ISRC and enter it when submitting metadata through a system that allows user-supplied ISRCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That does not make them the owner of the recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An ISRC is an identifier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not proof of copyright ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem arises when somebody combines an existing identifier with unauthorised audio or misleading metadata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why would title;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>artist;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ISRC;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UPC;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>master owner;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>release date;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>distributor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not rely entirely on one distributor dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if you find your ISRC on another recording?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, gather evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Save:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>links to the incorrect release;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>screenshots;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your original ISRC record;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>original master files;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>distribution history;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contracts or
