AI Persona is not necessarily the same thing as AI-assisted music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a Spotify AI Persona?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An AI Persona is an artist identity representing a character or person generated using AI rather than a real human artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify&#8217;s badge is about <strong>who the artist profile represents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It isn&#8217;t simply asking whether Auto-Tune, an AI mastering tool or generative software was used somewhere during production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That distinction matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where will the badge appear?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify says badges will appear in locations including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Artist profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track rows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Playlists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Listeners will therefore be able to see that an artist identity represents an AI Persona before choosing to listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can artists disclose themselves?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify currently allows relevant artists to disclose through Spotify for Artists that a profile represents an AI Persona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify also plans to let listeners report profiles they believe should be labelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Artists will have an appeal route if they believe Spotify has classified the account incorrectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will AI Personas appear in playlists?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where the change becomes commercially important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify says music from AI Personas will not normally be included in editorial or algorithmic recommendations unless the listener already follows the relevant Persona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That could significantly reduce passive discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a normal independent artist, algorithmic discovery may come through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Radio<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Autoplay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personalised playlists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recommendation systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An AI Persona could have less access to those pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does using AI make you an AI Persona?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify&#8217;s Persona system concerns artist identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify is separately experimenting with AI Credits and SongDNA around how music itself was created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An artist who uses AI to
