Yes.

DistroKid distributes music to YouTube Music as part of its wider digital distribution service.

But artists should understand that YouTube’s music ecosystem involves several different things.

This is YouTube’s dedicated streaming service.

Your distributed releases can appear there in much the same way they appear on Spotify or Apple Music.

Distributed music may also appear through automatically generated YouTube music assets connected to the release.

This is different.

Uploading a music video manually to your artist channel is not the same as distributing the audio recording into YouTube Music.

This is another separate layer.

Content ID helps identify recordings used inside other people’s videos.

DistroKid offers this functionality through its optional Social Media Pack, which currently carries release-level annual charges and a 20% share of generated revenue.

YouTube isn’t one revenue stream.

It’s an ecosystem consisting of:

music streaming

official videos

user-generated videos

short-form content

advertising

fan uploads

rights management

A good YouTube strategy should consider all of these.

Yes, DistroKid can get your music onto YouTube Music.

But independent musicians should think beyond simple delivery.

Your distributor should help you monetise the wider ways your recordings travel around YouTube.
