Because emotional contradiction is one of Parker’s strengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A song doesn’t need sad instrumentation simply because the words are sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three decades later, Parker is playing with similar language from an entirely different musical world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joe Keery is best known to many people as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He’s also a musician who records under the name Djo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That makes his appearance particularly fitting rather than simply celebrity casting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you like Tame Impala, Djo is also worth exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Songs such as \u201cEnd of Beginning\u201d share some of the nostalgic synth-pop and psychedelic influences that overlap with Parker’s audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Early Tame Impala was rooted much more heavily in psychedelic rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over time, Parker moved toward synthesizers, disco, funk and pop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
