Lyrics
For a while there it was rough
But lately, I’ve been doin’ better
Than the last four cold Decembers I recall
And I see my family every month
I found a girl my parents love
She’ll come and stay the night, and I think I might have it all
And I thank God every day
For the girl he sent my way
But I know the things he gives me, he can take away
And I hold you every night
And that’s a feeling I wanna get used to
But there’s no man as terrified as the man who stands to lose you
Oh, I hope I don’t lose you
Mm
Please stay
I want you, I need you, oh God
Don’t take
These beautiful things that I’ve got
Please stay
I want you, I need you, oh God
Don’t take
These beautiful things that I’ve got
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Please don’t take
I found my mind, I’m feelin’ sane
It’s been a while, but I’m finding my faith
If everything’s good and it’s great, why do I sit and wait ’til it’s gone?
Oh, I’ll tell ya, I know I’ve got enough
I’ve got peace and I’ve got love
But I’m up at night thinkin’ I just might lose it all
Please stay
I want you, I need you, oh God
Don’t take
These beautiful things that I’ve got
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Please don’t take
Please stay
I want you, I need you, oh God
I need
These beautiful things that I’ve got

Artist Interview
Q: Hi NIDA, can you introduce yourself?
A: Hello! I’m NIDA, a singer-songwriter and music creator from South Korea.
Q: Why did you choose the name ‘NIDA’?
A: It’s actually a play on words. I wanted something simple and familiar, just like the phrases we often use in Korean like ‘감사합’니다’, ‘사랑합’니다’, etc. Plus, it looks nice in English, too. There’s no deep meaning, but it’s memorable, which I love!
Q: How did you feel debuting with your single ‘잊혀지다’ in 2018?
A: After spending a long time as a trainee, I was eager to release my own music. I thought it would feel amazing, but it was a bit underwhelming when only my close friends listened to it. I felt quite disappointed and disheartened at first.
Q: What’s the biggest change between your debut and now?
A: After releasing my first single, I felt quite deflated. But then one of my YouTube videos gained traction, and people started listening to my music, too. It was incredibly fulfilling, and it made me think more deeply about my own songs beyond cover tracks.
Q: Of the songs you’ve released, which one are you most attached to?
A: It’s tough to choose, but if I had to pick one, it would be ‘Over.’ It was the hardest to work on and perform, and I still find it challenging. I was heavily involved in its creation, and it best reflects my personal style.
Q: What led you to start making cover songs on YouTube?
A: I began without any solid plans. I love traveling, and it felt like photos weren’t enough, so I started making videos and covering songs that matched the vibe of my travels. It became a fun hobby, and over time, I explored more creative ideas like mashups, and eventually, I gained a following.
Q: How do you choose songs to cover?
A: At first, I focused on what would get the most views, but I realized that didn’t bring me fulfillment. Now, I choose songs that I genuinely love and that suit my voice.
Q: Your cover videos with your dad are particularly popular. How do you feel about performing with him?
A: My dad once dreamt of pursuing music, but he couldn’t due to my grandfather’s opposition. He’s always supported me since he saw me sing in middle school, so singing with him feels like fulfilling his dream. It’s touching and makes me proud.
Q: What inspired your ‘Pop + Kpop on the Same Beat’ collaboration content?
A: When we made our first Pop + Kpop mashup, Kpop was already globally popular, and I felt that combining it with Pop could be really fun. It was a personal passion project that unexpectedly resonated with many people, and I’m very grateful for that.
Q: Any memorable filming stories?
A: When filming with others, we often have to stand much closer than it appears on camera, which was awkward at first. But now, I’ve gotten used to it and will do whatever it takes for the right shot!
Q: Why did you choose to cover Benson Boone’s ‘Beautiful Things’?
A: I fell in love with the song before it became widely popular and wanted to cover it immediately. However, as a female artist, I found it challenging to match Benson’s powerful and gritty vibe. I hesitated at first, but I’m glad I eventually did it, even if it was just a short live clip.
Q: How do you feel about surpassing 30 million views on your live cover clips across platforms?
A: It was unexpected, especially since I wasn’t fully satisfied with the video. I initially delayed posting it, so the response was surprising and humbling.
Q: How was your experience on Arirang Radio K-Pop?
A: It was my first time performing my song live on air, and I was incredibly nervous, especially since I was battling a cold. Although it was a challenge, I saw it as a learning opportunity and a reminder to take better care of my health.
Q: How would you describe your music in one word?
A: ‘Interpret freely.’ I believe it’s more important how listeners perceive and relate to my music than what I intended to convey.
Q: What do you think about your voice and singing style?
A: Some people love the calm, softer side of my voice, while others enjoy the more powerful high notes. I used to think I had to choose between the two, but now I embrace both as part of my unique sound.
Q: Who are your biggest musical influences?
A: I’ve been influenced by different artists in various ways: Bruno Mars for his passion for performing, Tori Kelly for her vocal precision, and Ariana Grande for her vocal tone. I hope to continue evolving and also become a positive influence on others.
Q: What’s the most impactful song or album you’ve listened to recently?
A: Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile.” It made me reflect deeply on the essence of music and my approach to it.
Q: Any genres you’d like to explore or artists you’d love to collaborate with?
A: I don’t necessarily want to explore a specific genre—I want my music to become its own genre. For collaborations, I’ve already worked with some amazing Korean artists, but my dream would be to work with Bruno Mars someday.
Q: Any hobbies or interests outside of music?
A: Apart from music, I didn’t have many hobbies until recently. I’ve become obsessed with the Premier League and dream of creating a theme song or performing at a Champions League game one day.
Q: Any message for your fans?
A: Thank you for all the love you’ve shown me through your screens. I’ll keep working hard to bring my music to more places and hope to meet you in person at concerts soon. Please continue to support me!
