Born in Thetford, Norfolk in 1995 and raised on the gritty streets of Lowestoft, Shane Harvey, known professionally as Creepzz, is a rising hip-hop and rap artist with a story of resilience, raw talent and redemption.

Q: What first inspired you to pursue music and how has that inspiration evolved over time?
A: My brother was the one who first introduced me to rap—he brought me an Eminem cassette tape and a Discman, and from that moment I fell in love with the genre. Hearing Eminem made me want to become a rapper myself. Over time, that inspiration has grown from simply loving rap to wanting to tell my own story and use music as a way to connect with people who have been through similar struggles.

Q: Can you walk us through your creative process when writing, or composing a new track?
A: When I start a new track, I usually begin by finding a beat and vibing with it for an hour or two. Once I’m in the right headspace, thoughts and lyrics start popping into my mind naturally. From there, the ideas build on each other, and I just let the flow take over. It’s a very organic process for me—once the spark hits, the rest follows.

Q: Which artists, or genres have had the biggest influence on your sound and why?
A: KKoke and Benny Banks from the UK, along with Eminem and Lil Durk from the US, have had a huge influence on my sound. Their music gives me chills because I relate deeply to their stories and the things they’ve been through. They’ve played a massive role in shaping my own musical journey—especially KKoke, who has inspired me from the beginning.

Q: What has been the most challenging moment in your musical journey so far and how did you overcome it?
A: The toughest challenge I faced was being detained in a medium secure mental health hospital for six years. It was a massive setback, but it ended up changing things for the better once I was released. I got through it by having access to recording equipment in my room, which allowed me to keep writing, recording, and releasing music even while I was inside. Music helped me stay focused and grounded during that time.

Q: What message, or emotion do you hope listeners take away from your music?
A: I want listeners to relate to my music and take positive messages from it—something that helps them get through tough times. I hope they can feel my struggle and understand that no matter what they’re going through, change is possible. You can grow, overcome your past, and become a better person.
