Chu Sumin – 내일에서 만나! Review – A Promise in a Dream
Chu Sumin debuted in 2022 with the single ‘야광별’ and came through the CJ Culture Foundation Tune-Up programme as part of its 25th class. ‘내일에서 만나!’ is her third single, and it returns to a promise made inside an old dream.
The song is built around one line: seeing the clock flower reminded me of you. A full band carries it, with keyboards, guitar, bass and drums arranged so that nothing crowds the vocal, and the singing stays plain rather than reaching for the emotional register the subject would allow. At three and a half minutes it does not overstay the idea.
A promise made in an old dream, and the flower that brings it back.
The credits show a writer working with people rather than alone. Chu Sumin wrote and composed the track and produced it herself, arranging alongside Seo Hyejeong on keyboards, with Oh Jeongseok on guitar, Lee Junhyuk on bass and Ju Seongwoo on drums. Han Seongil directed the vocal and sings backing alongside her.
The cover carries the clock flower from the lyric, which is a fair summary of how the song works: one image, held steady, asked to do the emotional work. For listeners who want Korean singer-songwriter tracks about longing and reunion, this is the plainer end of that shelf.
