Big Ears Festival has unveiled a huge lineup for its 2027 edition.

The festival returns to downtown Knoxville, Tennessee from 1–4 April 2027, bringing more than 250 concerts and performances to around two dozen venues across the city.

Who is playing Big Ears Festival 2027?

The lineup includes Jeff Tweedy, Robert Glasper, Weyes Blood, Thundercat, Courtney Barnett, Sylvan Esso, Mavis Staples, Natalie Merchant, Jim James, Oneohtrix Point Never, Bill Frisell, Brad Mehldau, Mount Eerie and Wednesday.

Separately ticketed concerts include Norah Jones, Nathaniel Rateliff and Gillian Welch & David Rawlings.

Robert Glasper also appears as part of Dinner Party, the supergroup featuring Glasper, Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington and 9th Wonder.

It’s difficult to put one genre around that lineup.

Jazz, indie rock, electronic music, folk, experimental composition and contemporary classical music all overlap.

That’s largely the point.

More than 250 performances

Big Ears describes itself as a festival that crosses musical boundaries, and its scale allows it to programme much deeper than a conventional three-stage event.

More than 150 artists are expected to perform across over 250 concerts.

There are some extraordinary one-off events too.

The programme includes an orchestral interpretation of David Bowie’s Blackstar, while the festival’s Ragamala programme presents an extended immersion in South Asian classical music.

These performances give Big Ears considerably more long-tail SEO potential than simply targeting searches for the festival lineup.

When is Big Ears Festival 2027?

Big Ears takes place from Thursday 1 April through Sunday 4 April 2027 in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee.

The 2027 lineup was announced on 14 September.
